Would heaven be heaven without Jesus?

I've been lacking in motivation for the concept of what to write about. I've been up and down the last couple of weeks in my happiness but my joy for the current moment and for the future has remained at a high. Ever find that you get your inspiration when in the shower? I wish I could remember all of the ideas I come up with in the shower, something about the water clearing space in your head. Ok, back on track.

So what is your perspective of heaven? As it is described in Revelation 21:9-27, it gives a pretty illustrated detail which I love. One in particular;

"The main street of the City was pure gold, translucent as glass. But there was no sign of a Temple, for the Lord God—the Sovereign-Strong—and the Lamb are the Temple. The City doesn’t need sun or moon for light. God’s Glory is its light, the Lamb its lamp! The nations will walk in its light and earth’s kings bring in their splendor. Its gates will never be shut by day, and there won’t be any night. They’ll bring the glory and honor of the nations into the City. Nothing dirty or defiled will get into the City, and no one who defiles or deceives. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will get in." Revelation 21:21-27

This paints a picture but when we take a deeper look into what we see as our heaven, we've described it in many situations. Situation such as, good food, a feeling, weather, people, coffee shops, a good book we could use on the daily basis to describe as "heavenly". So the question comes to mind, Would heaven be heaven without Jesus? Because from my point of view I see people thinking heaven is something other than Jesus. And that we associate heaven with other things such as those listed above.If we look at the definition of what hell is, it's not just burning lakes of fire but a separation from God.

So in retrospective, Heaven would be in the unity with God not necessarily the streets of gold that should be our prime thinking in our ticket to heaven.

A lot of times I see the Gospel being shared as saving one from hell or even the ability to go to heaven that we forget to share the fact of what it means for us right now on earth, and our lives here, and not just necessarily after we die. We have been given Christ right where we are. To enjoy God's glory in which He has bestowed to us. We have to remember as Christians that God wants us to "KNOW" Him. The greek translation of the word "know" carries with it the concept of intimate knowledge as in the knowledge a husband and wife have each other when they consecrate their marriage. In understanding that, eternal life is not going to heaven. Eternal life is having an intimate relationship with our Creator- knowing and being known by Him. This hits hard home with me. So when you are sharing the Gospel, what are you sharing? Are you sharing Jesus, or are you sharing heaven? You can't have heaven without Jesus. Next time your sharing Christ, remember you aren't sharing any type of propaganda, you are sharing Jesus and what it's like to be a christian.

You are the first glimpse of heaven.

Love,
Becky
